| Welcome to Royal Chihuahuas! Our Chihuahuas allow my husband and I to share the house with them. I believe that a puppy’s personality is not only based on genetics, but how much time and effort is put into each puppy from the day they are born. Each puppy is touched and held from the day they are born. They are kept in playpens and cribs, not kennels. None of my dogs have ever been in a kennel or cage. I don't believe in that. I started purchasing my breeding stock several years ago, only to be misled by breeders. Either they lied about the size, quality, or lineage. I ended up giving all of my original stock to friends as pets, either due to size, inbreeding, or congenital defects. It was then that I decided that there had to be a place for a Chihuahua breeder that was honest and actually cared about the dogs, and not just the money. I finally found a couple of breeders that were honest and actually sold dogs that were what they promised and stood behind their dogs. It is from those new dogs that I have my breeding stock. Royal Chihuahuas specializes in breeding beautiful healthy chihuahua puppies with superior pedigrees. We strive to meet the standards set by AKC. I breed for quality and soundness with an emphasis on the tiny Chihuahuas. (Officially AKC does not acknowledge a teacup Chihuahua) The Chihuahua standard states that a Chihuahua cannot be over 6 lbs. There is no specification for a tiny Chihuahua in the standard other than tiny. A tiny Chihuahua is a very delicate dog. They have special needs. For example, mine sleep in heated beds (when they are not in my bed), they need to eat every few hours, even during the night. Hypoglycemia is a tragic illness that strikes many tiny Chihuahuas. This is a totally preventable illness. It is caused by not eating enough food to compensate for their activity. Keeping a tiny Chihuahua or any puppy warm is important.
